Because I'm pretty sure it's in the Mommyblogging Handbook somewhere, right after Paragraph A, "Childbirth", and close to Subsection B, "Poop and Vomit". Posting about the First Day Of School is one of those rites of passage that we just can't help but document, even if it was, in the case of my boys, completely uneventful. Ryan started 6th grade with a teacher who is married to a guy who was my friend in middle school and high school and she's pregnant with twins. None of his friends are in his class, but two of them are in his "switch" class (two teachers switch classes for science and social studies or, um, something like that), so he sees them at lunch and recess. I'm pretty sure 6th grade is the last year that kids get recess, so I hope he enjoys it while it lasts.
