Giveaway – Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to the winner, #127 Tia!

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules opened in theaters last weekend. Despite it’s lack of magic, superheroes, or vampires, reviews are calling it funny and charming. In this sequel, “wimpy” Greg and his older brother – and chief tormentor – Rodrick are forced to bond by their parents, with hilarious results.

To celebrate the release, Twentieth Century Fox wants to give one lucky Table for Five reader a fantastic Wimpy Kid Prize Pack worth $79.00!  One winner will be chosen to receive the Cheese Touch board game, Zoo Wee Mama Card Game, Wimpy Kid Action Figure Set, a 200-piece puzzle, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid UNO!

Here’s a clip from the movie (it says Trailer in the title but it’s not the trailer, hmm):

LOOKING TO HAVE ME REVIEW A PRODUCT OR HOST A GIVEAWAY??

MY REVIEW BLOG: http://momreviews.net

Background Story:

When I started doing product reviews and giveaways, I was running BlogHer Ads. Their terms of service said that blogs running their ads couldn’t have other sponsors, so they suggested creating a separate product review blog, which is what I did.

Soon after that though, I decided to stop running BlogHer Ads, which opened Table for Five back up for reviews and giveaways. For over two years, I posted product reviews and hosted giveaways on TWO blogs.  I juggled twice the amount of products, twice the emails, twice the scheduling.  It wasn’t long before I was, well, driving myself insane.

At the end of last month, for both personal and professional reasons, I announced that I was no longer going to post reviews or giveaways on this blog. I deleted the Reviews & Giveaways Info page, and instead put a link at the top in the navigation bar called “my reviews and giveaways blog” that links directly to MomReviews.

From now on, all emails sent to my table4five@gmail.com address that have anything to do with a review or giveaway will get a reply with a link to MomReviews.  PR firms with whom I’ve established a long-term relationship that request something appear here on Table for Five will most likely have their request honored, because ultimately, what I post here is up to me.

I just wanted all of you to know.

The 39 Clues Autographed Books Giveaway

If you have an 8-12 year old child, chances are you have already heard about The 39 Clues, the thrilling book series from Scholastic. Combining books, collectible cards, and an online game, The 39 Clues takes readers on dazzling adventures around the world, while teaching them about historical figures at the same time!  I first learned about the books at a Scholastic Book Fair, when I thumbed through Book #1 while waiting for my boys to make their selections. By the time they had picked out the books they wanted to buy, I knew I was going to buy The 39 Clues Book #1 for myself!

A video has just surfaced that shows reporter William Michaels in an exclusive interview with Gordon Korman, author of  Book 2 and the newly released Book 8: The Emperor’s Code. Gordon reveals extraordinary information: There are vital hints concealed in the artwork on the cover of Book 8 that could expose the location of the next Clue! Examine the artwork carefully, and your family could find out where the Book 8 Clue is hidden! Watch it now:

Scholastic is also running a sweepstakes and giving away cash prizes to readers of the books!  Enter the codes on the cards that come with each book and you could win cash prizes or even a family trip to the destination of your choice – Bahamas, Boston, Moscow, Paris, Tokyo, or Venice!! Learn more at The 39 Clues Family Adventure Sweepstakes.

Things I’m Thinking About Today – 2/22

1. A photo I took is famous! Well, sort of. I took a picture of Kaitlyn “helping” Nathan and our neighbor’s grandson walk to school on their first day in 2007.  In Spring 2008, the photo was published in a Toronto magazing called “Spacing”. And now, New Hampshire Public Radio has used the photo to illustrate a blog post about how activity-friendly urban planning (i.e. more sidewalks in neighborhoods) could help fight childhood obesity. How cool is that? Thanks, NHPR!

2.  Could Sarah Palin BE a bigger hypocrite?  I have tried so hard, over the last five years, to keep politics off this blog,  but dang it, this woman is pissing me off.  First there was the whole “well, Rush Limbaugh was using political satire  when he said the word ‘retard’ on the radio, so he gets a free pass” debacle, and now, documents released as part of Levi and Bristol’s custody battle over their son Tripp shows that “Granny Palin” gives family members a free pass on socialized medicine, too.

A document used to ask for a reduction in the amount of child support Johnston was going to have to pay explains that Johnston should not be charged for monthly health care, because Tripp Palin Johnston is covered under Indian Health Services, the Federal Health Program for American Indians and Alaska Natives. THE FEDERAL HEALTH PROGRAM. So, it’s okay for her grandson, but not for everyone else. “Nationalizing our health care system is a point of no return for government interference in the lives of its citizens”, she wrote on her Facebook page. Which is it, Ms. Palin?

3.  Surprise! It’s a Blizzard. My boys are home from school today because we had a blizzard overnight. Yesterday afternoon, it was warm enough for them to take the dog on a walk, down the sidewalks that had NO SNOW on them anymore thanks to three days of temps in the mid -to-high 30s. Then we went to bed last night and when I woke up at 6:15 AM, I found the boys still in their pajamas because school was closed. I’m sorry, school is WHAT? So I look outside. Yep. Blizzard. Ground covered, with snow coming straight down in a hard shower. Yippee.

4.  How I know I’m not a hoarder  – I know this is totally wrong, but what I like about watching the show “Hoarders” is that it makes me feel better about being a messy person. Because I might have a problem with piling, but at least there aren’t dead cats  buried under mounds of trash in what used to be my dining room.  On Saturday, I gave Chris and the boys a cheery pep talk about how if they would just give me two hours of their time, we could get our living room really clean, then everyone could spend the rest of the day doing whatever they wanted.  That two hours of cleaning turned into more like FIVE.

But the reason I know I’m not a hoarder is because I had absolutely no problem filling two large boxes for Goodwill plus a large trash bag.  It didn’t pain me at all to get rid of stuff I haven’t used since we moved in here 4.5 years ago. I even let Kaitlyn decide that she no longer wanted THE DOLLHOUSE, the one I found at a garage sale for a dollar four years ago, the Fisher Price Family Dollhouse with the yellow roof and the blue walls, just like the one I had as a child. I wanted Kaitlyn to love it, to play with it every day, but it never caught her attention. She brought it to me and said “this can go to Goodwill, Mama”, and I died a little inside but then let it go. I LET IT GO.  So, not a hoarder.

5. Posting a weekly giveaway linky – I definitely want to have a post each week where bloggers hosting giveaways can leave their links.  I was thinking maybe every Tuesday, since I already do Wordless Wednesday (when I can remember).   Here’s a couple of giveaways I entered over the weekend:

Look for the linky tomorrow to leave me your giveaway URLS!

And that’s what I’m thinking about today. Comments are welcome!

Day 6 Giveaway-Squeeballs Party for Nintendo Wii and DS!

Today’s giveaway is sponsored by Performance Designed Products, makers of  the game Squeeballs Party, which is SO FUN! PDP sent us the game for the Wii to review, and we all enjoy taking turns playing it. The object of the game is to see how much damage the Squeeballs can take, by shooting them at targets, rolling them down bowling alleys, hitting them with baseball bats, and more.  I like this game  because it gets us all up and moving. There are 150 mini-games in the Wii game and 70 in the DS game, so for the $19.99 retail price for either the Wii or for the Squeeballs Party DS game,  this game will give hours of play!

SqueeballsDSSqueeballsWii

Squeeballs are 12 toys that are manufactured on a secret island somewhere in the Pacific. Before they can be sold to children around the world, the Squeeballs must be fully put to the test…to the point of destruction! You can blow up, cook, slice, bat, bowl, shoot and bounce the Squeeballs. The game features a unique collection of 11 party games, each taking place in a different environment from lava-filled canyons, bowling alleys and kitchens to science labs and snow-capped mountains. As the game progresses and more challenges are met – each one more difficult than the last – the game showcases more than 150 unique challenges. The game is available for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS/DS Lite/DSi, Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. The Wii version features 11 party games; other versions vary in content. “Squeeballs Party” is rated E10+ (Everyone 10 and older) with the descriptors “Cartoon Violence” by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Find more information at www.Squeeballs.com.

WIN IT: Performance Designed Products will send one lucky Table for Five reader Squeeballs Party for both the Wii AND the DS!  To enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me who you’ll share these games with if you win.  That’s it!
