DVD Review- Quantum of Solace

quantum-of-solaceBond, James Bond is back in a new movie that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat! Daniel Craig returns as James Bond in Quantum of Solace, a thrilling, action-packed adventure which starts shortly after Casino Royale ends. Betrayed by the woman he loved, 007 fights the urge to make his latest mission personal. On a nonstop quest for justice that crisscrosses the globe, Bond meets the beautiful but feisty Camille (Olga Kurylenko), who leads him to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless businessman and major force within the mysterious “Quantum” organization. When Bond uncovers a conspiracy to take control of one of the world’s most important natural resources, he must navigate a minefield of treachery, deception and murder to neutralize “Quantum” before it’s too late!

This was a different kind of Bond movie from the ones I grew up watching with my Dad. It lacked the witty wordplay of the older Bond films, especially the Sean Connery ones.  Bond was in a major spiral of anger and depression, making bad choices and almost ruining his relationship with “M”, who is pretty much his only real family.  This isn’t the suave Bond who drinks martinis and romances beautiful women while cleverly foiling dastardly plots, this is a much darker Bond, who is dealing with his problems with his fists.

Still, the cinematography is stunning as always, and the plot wraps up in a way that leaves you hope that Bond will keep going. Daniel Craig is one tough cookie, that’s for darn sure.  For any Bond fan, Quantum of Solace is worth seeing.
