Motorola Droid RAZR Smartphone Giveaway!

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to the winner chosen by random.org, #85 Rust Hawk!

As a member of the Verizon Wireless #MidWestMoms, I’ve had the chance to review the Motorola Xoom Tablet and the Droid Bionic and share my thoughts about them with you, and now I get to do something amazing – give away the new Motorola Droid RAZR Smartphone!  This phone looks so cool, you guys.  Remember when they first came out in 2004 and they were THE phone to have?

Chris and I were using Nextel push-to-talk phones back then, which were definitely not as sleek and stylish as the RAZR.   Now, Motorola has updated the RAZR as a Droid Smartphone, and I get to give one away!

I haven’t tried the new Droid RAZR myself, but these are some of the features that make the RAZR unique and have me excited to be giving one away:

  • The thinnest 4G LTE smartphone at 7.1 millimeters (that’s .27 inches. SUPER thin!)
  • Runs on the Verizon 4G LTE Network, available in 160 cities and counting. I have 4G LTE on my Droid Bionic, it is FAST.
  • The Dual–Core 1.2 GHz processor and 1 GB RAM can handle photos, music, movies, all at lightning speeds.
  • The RAZR is back-plated with laser cut KEVLAR® fiber (yeah, the bullet proof vest stuff), has a water repellant nanocoating, and features a Corning® Gorilla Glass® display. Seriously people, KEVLAR. This is one tough phone.
  • Lets you create a 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot and tether up to 8 wi-fi enabled devices. Very convenient for travel and conferences!
  • Use MotoCast to stream and download pictures, music, videos, and documents between your PC and DROID RAZR while on the go.

Catching Up With A Friend The Old Fashioned Way

Technology has made us hyper-connected at every moment in the day. We’re emailing, posting, tweeting, liking, poking, polling, hearting, reviewing, sharing, vlogging, commenting, voting, texting, pinning, messaging, checking-in and checking-out …phew.

When do we have time to every truly connect and catch up with anyone any more?

This month, as part of the #MidwestMoms program, @VerizonWireless challenged me to do something I hadn’t done in way too long – actually call a friend and have a conversation the old fashioned way. I knew exactly who I wanted to call – my friend Lisa of My Thoughts, Ideas and Ramblings.  Lisa and I “met” online, and although we’ve been to conferences together and I’ve spent weekends at her house outside of Chicago, we mainly connect online through Gmail chat.  It had been a long time since we had spoken, so I called her using my Droid Bionic, which runs on the 4G LTE Network.

I called her one morning after I knew her kids were off to school and we had a nice long chat. We caught each other up on our kids, our blogs, the latest gossip. It was nice to be hearing her and not just reading text or chat words.  It made me wish I was on one of the phones we had when I was a kid, the kind that attached to the wall and had a long curly cord. I miss those days of sitting on the top step of the basement stairs, twirling that cord around my hand while I talked to a friend.

Thanks, Verizon Wireless, for challenging me to call someone I hadn’t spoken to in a while, I really enjoyed doing it!  The call clarity was perfect, and even when I moved into a different room in the house (I get 3G in some rooms and 4G in others), the call stayed connected.  Even though there are so many ways to stay in touch online, nothing beats an old-fashioned phone call.  Why not call a friend today?
