You’re killing me, kid.

Since getting up this morning, Kaitlyn has started eating three different things, then claimed to be too full to finish any of them, then claimed to be starving. GAH.  My kitchen is not an all-you-can-eat buffet.

A bowl of cereal that she took three bites of was rejected for a yogurt, which I think she ate most of, then she got a banana from the kitchen and ate most of that, and then just now? You know what she asked me?

WHEN’S LUNCH TIME?

I don’t know if this is a growth spurt or what, but this constant grazing but  never being satisfied thing is going to drive me INSANE.

I like feeling validated about my choices

Mom & Kaitlyn

Up until recently, I had been feeling like I really messed up not sending Kaitlyn to preschool last September.   I kept running across blog posts from other Moms of four year old girls, and their kids were writing their names and coloring pictures of people and houses and flowers, and since Kaitlyn isn’t yet doing either of those things, I was feeling like a failure.

Even though she wasn’t fully potty trained at all last September which was our deciding factor in not sending her to school, and even though she CAN do a whole lot of pretty smart things now (including taking herself to the bathroom, FINALLY), I was doubting myself.

But then over the last couple of days, Kaitlyn and I met some little girls who were exactly her size, who she instantly wanted to play with, who she just clicked with. Twice at the library and then again at the Sprint store, I sidled up to the other Moms and after telling them how cute their daughters were, asked innocently, “how old is she?”

In every single case, the other little girl was three. I don’t realize how petite Kaitlyn is until I see that she is the exact same size  as other three year olds.   So now I’m thinking it would have been a mistake to assume she was ready for kindergarten this Fall, I think it’s perfectly fine for her to start preschool this Fall at four, and turn five. Then go to kindergarten at five and turn six.

Right?

Happy 4th Birthday Kaitlyn!!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Kaitlyn,
Happy Birthday to you!

Four years ago today, my beautiful angel pumpkin princess Kaitlyn was born!

JustBornK

From the moment she came into our lives, she was the baby we didn’t know we needed to have until we had her, and then it was like “ahhhh….so that’s what we needed to be a complete family!”.   Chris, Ryan, Nathan and I fell completely in love with this tiny little girl.

Smiling K

It’s hard to describe Kaitlyn in just a few words. She is this bright ray of sunshine that has our family completely under her control. We are powerless to resist her adorableness, her hugs and kisses and the way she is always checking up on everyone to see what they are doing and if they are okay. She’s like a little Mommy already!

Little Mommy

So far today, she’s requested to watch Spongebob, she wants lunch at Arby’s, and I still need to wrap her gifts- a new family for her dollhouse and the Snow White doll that comes with the little animals. She already got a cake over the weekend at my parents house,  so we’ll probably go out for ice cream after dinner.

Happy Birthday my big four year old girl! I love you bunches and bunches and bunches!
